A work in 3 movements for flute & 2 percussionists (+ backing CD) Commissioned by James Galway in 1999 for him to perform on a world tour with the amazing Safri Duo from Denmark. There are 3 movements: 1 Mes-Merengue (a lopsided salsa workout). 2 Dickety-Dut (starts with penny whistle & Bodhran and metamorphoses into a heavy funk groove with the aid of a CD to play along with). 3 Joropo-Pop A swift piece in the style of a Venezuelan Joropo. The piece requires many instruments including a full size marimba, vibraphone, xylophone, various drums, maraccas etc. The Safri Duo performed the piece with the aid of woodblocks & kick drum played with foot pedals at the same time as playing tuned percussion. Percussionists with less than 5 limbs may consider employing a third player to perform the piece! Duration about 15 minutes.
